Marin County has released its homeless population report
Marin County’s 2026 Point‑in‑Time Count shows a modest rise in homelessness, increasing from 1,090 in 2024 to 1,128 in 2026, with 74% of individuals living unsheltered. Despite the overall increase, the county reports notable improvements among priority groups such as veterans, transition‑age youth, and families. Survey data says that 88% of respondents lived in Marin county before becoming homeless, and economic hardship was the most common cause. Nearly two‑thirds of the people surveyed were experiencing homelessness for the first time, and over half reported at least one disabling condition, underscoring the need for integrated housing, behavioral health, and healthcare services.
