Find emergency medical services (EMS) in Marin County

Need to know

  • Call 911 for any medical emergency. You do not choose which ambulance responds—dispatch sends the closest and most appropriate unit.
  • Marin County has 3 hospitals with emergency departments.
  • Private ambulance companies provide non-emergency transportation, such as transfers between medical facilities.
  • Ambulance services vary by level of care:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support): for stable patients
    • ALS (Advanced Life Support): for serious conditions
    • CCT (Critical Care Transport): for complex medical needs
