Need to know
- CalWORKs Welfare to Work recipients can get access to education services to further their education
- Enrollment in post-secondary education or non-profit institutions allows you to receive advanced supportive services (advanced standard payment)
- Education can be vocational, trade, certificate, or a degree
- Enrollment in EOPS and CAREs is available at the Community College level for CalWORKs recipients
Before you start
- Must be a CalWORKs Welfare to Work recipient
- Gather any school or training information you already have
- Transcripts
- Registration
- Records of IEPs or 504 plans
- Learning disability diagnosis
- Secure child care (talk to your CalWORKs Eligibility Worker or CalWORKs Employment Services Case Manager)
- Secure transportation (talk to your CalWORKs Employment Services Case Manager)
What to do
- Apply for CalWORKs (learn more at BenefitsCal.com)
- Attend mandatory Welfare to Work Orientation
- Complete Welfare to Work Appraisal
- Let your CWES case manager know you are enrolled in or interested in enrolling in education
- Secure child care (talk to your CalWORKs Eligibility Worker or CalWORKs Employment Services Case Manager)
- Secure transportation (talk to your CalWORKs Employment Services Case Manager)
