Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST)

Adult conservatorship / Public Guardian provides support with Health Coverage and Care and Financial Assistance for Older Adults and People with Disabilities.

About this service

The Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST) is a group of County employees and trained community volunteers whose mission is to prevent, detect, and document older adult financial abuse. FAST emphasizes prevention through community education on scams and fraudulent activities that target older adults. The team also supports investigations when financial abuse cases are referred through Law Enforcement or Adult Protective Services. FAST partners with the Marin County District Attorney office, Adult Protective Services, and the Marin County Public Guardian Office. FAST is housed in Marin County Health and Human Services under Aging and Adult Services.

Who this service is for

FAST serves older adults and the broader older adult community, organizations and individuals who work with or support older adults, and partner agencies such as Law Enforcement and Adult Protective Services (APS) that refer suspected financial abuse cases. Community members interested in presentations or education about financial scams for older adults can also engage FAST.
