- For private well water testing, you must pick up special bottles in San Rafael.
What to do
Private well water testing
- Pick up prepared water bottles at Marin County Public Health, 3240 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael. Press the white doorbell labeled “Water Sample Drop Off.”
- Collect your sample and keep it refrigerated, or in a cooler with ice packs.
- Drop off your sample the same day you collect it. Beginning 04/01/2025, drop off Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nitrate samples are Tuesdays only.
- If applicable, pay the well water testing fee online. See portal for well water testing prices.
