- Welfare fraud is against the law and can be prosecuted in court. If convicted, someone may go to jail, have to pay fines or be disqualified from receiving future benefits.
- To protect Marin County Health and Human Services benefit programs from false claims, community members can report their concerns about suspected fraud.
- You can report suspected fraud for CalWORKs, CalFresh, General Relief, or IHSS.
- A bilingual Spanish-speaking investigator is available.
Before you start
- Write down what happened, when it happened, and who was involved.
- Include a description of suspected fraud, any addresses, case numbers, and documents, if available.
- If you want to receive a follow-up, include your phone number or email.
What to do
To report CalWORKs, CalFresh, General Relief, or IHSS fraud:
- Call 415-473-7071 to report suspected fraud.
- If you need to send documents, fax 415-473-7166.
To report Medi-Cal suspected fraud:
- Call 800-822-6222.
