About this service
Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) is a state-funded program that provides monthly cash benefits to eligible non-citizens who are aged, blind, or disabled and cannot receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or State Supplementary Payment (SSP) solely because of their immigration status.
Who this service is for
This program is for non-citizens who would otherwise qualify for SSI/SSP but are ineligible based only on their immigration status. To be eligible for CAPI applicants must:
- Be ineligible for SSI/SSP solely due to immigration status,
- Be 65 years old or older, blind, or disabled,
- Live in California,
- Meet income and resource limits, and
- Meet the immigration status criteria.

Program overview
CAPI is intended to provide monthly cash assistance to aged, blind, or disabled non-citizens who cannot receive SSI/SSP only because of their immigration status. The program is state funded and administered in coordination with county human services offices.

Application and review (informational)
An application is required to determine CAPI eligibility. The state application form used is SOC 814. After an application is submitted, a county worker will review the information and contact the applicant to schedule an interview and determine eligibility.
