Get help applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Need to know

  • You must be age 18 or older and live in Marin County.
  • You must be receiving General Relief or CalWORKs.
  • You must have a chronic mental health or physical disability that keeps you from working for 12 months or more, or result in death.
  • Be in current/continuous treatment

Before you start

  • List your medical providers and where you have received care.
  • Gather any medical records you already have.

What to do

  1. For referral, contact your worker.
  2. If you meet the criteria, an SSIA staff will help you file an SSI and/or SSDI claim.
  3. Work with staff to gather medical documents that support your claim.
  4. Attend all SSIA and medical appointments
