Get help with Veterans Treatment Court (VTC)

Need to know

The County of Marin Veteran Service Office works with the Marin County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to support justice-involved veterans.

VTC is a collaborative court program that connects justice-involved veterans with treatment and support services. Participation in VTC is determined by Marin County Superior Court and the VTC team.

The Marin County Veterans Service Office (VSO) works with the Marin County Superior Court and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to help connect eligible veterans to this program.

Before you start

  • Have the following information available:
    • Veteran’s full name, SSN and date of birth
    • Marin County court case number or case information
  • Basic military service history (branch, dates of service)
  • Veteran’s DD-214 discharge papers (if available)

What to do

  • Confirm the veteran has a current or pending case in Marin County Superior Court.
    • This information is typically available from the defense attorney, probation officer, or court records.
  • Complete a MIL-100 referral form.
    • This form provides basic information about the veteran and the court case.
  • Complete 'Request for and Authorization to Release Health Information' form.
    • This form allows the VA Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) Specialist to coordinate care and share information with the court and treatment providers.
  • Once completed, forms are sent to the Veterans Treatment Court team for review.
  • The Veterans Treatment Court team will review the referral and determine eligibility. Final acceptance into the program is determined by the court and VTC team.

  • Court-supervised treatment
  • Case management
  • Regular court appearances
  • Coordination with VA health care providers

The VTC team works closely with the VA Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) program to support participating veterans.
