Get Veteran ID/driver's license designation

Need to know

California veterans can add a “Veteran” designation to their California Driver License (DL) or Identification (ID) card.

The designation allows veterans to:

  • Show proof of military service on their DL/ID
  • Access certain veteran discounts and services

The Marin County Veterans Service Office (VSO) verifies eligibility and provides the required Veteran Status Verification Form (VSD-001).

The DMV then adds the designation to your DL/ID.
